This film by magnificent director Martin Scorsese features two men (Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio), one is an undercover policeman working as a henchman for crime boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson), and the other is an undercover henchman for Costello disguised as a policeman. The film’s cast list is packed with big names including Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin.
This is Scorsese’s remake of the film Internal Affairs, and won Scorsese his first Oscar along with three other Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.

You will be captivated throughout the film as it explores organised crime in Boston. As shown by the numerous awards it has won, this film is a definite must-see.

Film Review of Argo (2012)

Argo is based on a true story set in Iran in 1979 where Iranian revolutionaries invaded the American embassy. The Iranians held Americans hostage however 6 were able to escape and sought refuge within the Canadian Ambassadors home. A CIA agent Tony Mendez played by Ben Affleck came up with an outrageous plan to remove the 6 Americans by pretending to be a film crew scouting locations for a potential film.

I would have to put this film in my top 10 films of all time as the storyline grips you from start to finish. Ben Affleck who not only starred in the film was also director is really flourishing in the film industry and to me this is his best work to date. It’s a must see film with a strong compassionate storyline how 1 man is willing to risk his life in the attempt to save others with glimpses of comedy at appropriate times.

I would give this film 4.75 out of 5.

Film Review of Zombieland (2009)

Set in post-apocalyptic America, the film follows the story of four characters whose paths cross as they fight together across the country to survive. This ‘zomcom’ (zombie comedy) stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin with a hilarious, award-winning cameo appearance from Bill Murray.
Zombie movies have become increasingly popular over the past decade and this film has to be the best comedy adaptation to the zombie genre. Thanks to the skills of director Ruben Fleischer, the film received a number of awards and became the top-grossing zombie film in the United States.

Overall I would rate this film 4 out of 5

Film review of 'Lone Survivor' (2013)

Lone Survivor is based around one character ‘Marcus Luttrell played by Mark Wahlberg. 4 navy seals are on a mission to kill a Taliban leader ‘Ahmad Shah’ what was supposed to be a straightforward mission soon turned into a disaster when they were found in the mountains by goat herders who they chose to let go instead of sacfricing them for the mission. This meant they had to engage the Taliban and were soon outnumbered and hunted.

It is a film full of action and courage and emphasises the brotherhood within the troops and their willingness to sacrifice themselves for each other. A fantastic film with a gripping storyline that tells the compelling story of what only a small percentage of the world experiences.

I would rate this film 4.5 out of 5.
